What’s scary swirling over your head? This thing.

Hurricane Irene Obviously Isn’t Team Eric

Hurricane Irene is not a nice storm. A name like Irene is far too ladylike for the pummeling that the homes surrounding me took from punishing winds and heavy down pours of rain. It should have been called “Hurricane Oh My God Don’t Let That Giant Tree Limb Hit My House”.  (Perhaps it actually turned out to be a tropical storm with hurricane like gusts, I’m not sure due to hearing different things, it doesn’t matter it just was scary.) The aftermath was a mess of ancient trees laying across major roads, dormant power and telephones lines hanging askew from their perches and rows of neighbors standing at the local firehouse trying to determine when aid would be reaching their homes.

Not the best way to spend a Sunday.

My family in a way was one of the lucky ones. Sure it took seven days to regain power and running water, but there were families not only in Connecticut, but other states that lost their homes/lives to the brutal storm.  While we lost everything in our refridgerator and freezer, we had a plan in effect (and charcoal grill) to keep us fed and we stocked up on water to keep us hydrated. Plus, most importantly, we have loving family and friends that helped us with their support that kept us strong as our tempers were getting hot and our patience was wearing thin.

This led me to make some hopefully make some observations about life. Nah…T.V.and movies. I am not that deep, when trying to find ways avoid eating the cans of SPAM we bought. Plus, what else are you going to do when wearing a special flashlight hat at 8:00 P.M. and trying to stay awake. Play board games and have an intellectual conversation? Ha! We did that the first three nights!

This was like me...except I wasn't doing cool rock climbing, instead I was pretending that my house WASN'T creepy in the dark. #wimp

TRUE BLOOD: I decided I am Team Alcide/Sam and whoever is not a vampire. (Jessica excluded) Sorry Eric and Bill, I have switched teams.  Even more so after catching up on Sunday. (Yay power!) You’ll see in the recap! (Working on it today. Promise!)

I was excited about this, but...

I love this idea better!

Vampire Diaries: Next week! I will admit that my excitement is running high. While getting energy and water back is far more important than a television program, I am positively giddy! (Also, Glee…Parks & Recreation…Supernatural…oh my goodness…How I Met Your Mother…One Tree Hill…umm…forget I said anything!)

Missed all of you

The Secret Circle: There is always room for something new. Something new that you liked reading when you were a teenager! Plus Kevin Williamson is doing it and Vampire Diaries is fantastic! Plus I like witches!

You just knew I was going to watch this!

Twilight: Breaking Dawn is coming, so I had briefly thought about watching the earlier movies on the portable DVD player. Then the realization that I would have to explain WHY I like them. I chickened out.

Every explanation I try just goes entirely wrong and makes the whole series sound unintentionly creepy in a bad way. Yet it always ends with me saying, "I know it doesn't make sense. Can't I just love it anyway?"

 Instead, we watched these instead…

Giggle, giggle. Ben Stiller. Giggle, giggle.

These are a few of my favorite things...Walberg, Stratham, Green, Mos Def and Minis...oh my!

I also started reading, The Witches of East End: A brilliant book by Melissa de la Cruz! I want it to be the next book club selection after we FINALLY discuss A Discovery of Witches!

Add it to your fall reading list! If you love Twilight, Discovery of Witches or Outlander, you'll love this too! We need to chat about it!

Hopefully, Talk Supe is back on track! (And WC Stacey gets a little let up in all her work!) We want to hear all of your comments (because we love them!) Have something funny about this silly stuff you want to share? Send us a guest post! and follow us on twitter @talksupe!

Why can't people keep things organized! I am going to stick on my pouty face.

I know that we said we are on a break, but… I just need to give you some teasers from the next couple of weeks! Just can’t help myself!
First…Team Seth gives us some glimpses into the land of Dr.Who. (She’s the expert!)

Maybe Team Seth can help me determing the origin of this stone? Or at least help me figure out what's going to happen next season!

Thanks a bunch Starz’s, now WC Stacey is going to cry! (But you are bringing me Torchwood, so at least we’re good.)

Only one season! Now people will only remember me for my black robes, flamboyant scarves and trying to kill off Bella!

We really…I PROMISE discuss this book!

Did you know...the author retweeted WC Stacey?

Breaking Dawn madness is upon us…feathers and sippy cups…

B: Can I have some more eggs? E: I see how it is, wife! As soon as you put a ring on it, I become your slave! I don't see shackles on the stove and I don't see you running out to the meadow and draining a deer for me! Some respect would be nice!

Celebrity Email Theater!

Miss us yet, ladies? Or our party planning prowess? Ain't no party, like a Mystic Falls party

Ohh…and most importantly True Blood Recaps!

Well ladies...I am back. Do you find my odd, extremely low, mesh tank top fetching?

We miss you all and will be back soon! Follow us on twitter @talksupe

Or the one where True Blood has it’s “Leg Hitch”

Ok ladies, we’re down to the wire. If you haven’t read Sookie book 4, “Dead to the World” yet, now’s the time to do it. It will make you REALLY look forward to this season, especially if you’re Team Eric. Have you seen the trailer?

EC: Then catch up and read the latest Sookie book, “Dead Reckoning”. It’s fabulous and you’ll totally jump back on the Team Bill bandwagon. Or even better Team Sam and his shirts! (Or that just might be me. Hmm…) Review coming soon!

Dead Reckoning OUT TODAY!!!

I completely forgot!

I finished the Sookie Stackhouse/ True Blood books last August. I was *dying* for May to come and book 11 to arrive. Well I got sidetracked by HBO’s True Blood,  #Hotalex, vampire Diaries, Outlander Series, Fever Series, A Discovery of Witches, Monarch of the Glen, Game of Thrones, Camelot, Spartacus, and the Blackdagger Brotherhood CNN, other quality programming and intellectual lit-ra-ture. And what was totally off my radar? THIS:

Squee for New Eric!!

*puts down BDB 6, sorry Phury Game of Thrones, downloads Dead Reckoning*

They all trump Eric, well maybe except Monsieur Fraser, but we’ve got a while before he re-rears.

You forgot me? *revokes Truebie fan card*

A new read, full of supes!

Discovery of Witches Chapter 1: It Ain’t Easy Bein’ a Witch

Spoilers: Don’t read unless you are past chapter 1 in DoW

Don’t forget, we want your thoughts and questions in the comments!

The Bodleian: I feel smarter just looking at this picture

Setting: Bodleian Library in Oxford

EC: A Discovery of Witches starts with a mystery, a mystery about a REALLY old book. Not a girl randomly meeting a dark and dangerous boy in a schoolyard, bar or some other random location. We see this a lot in stories, both adult and YA. Instead we start in a place of learning with a heroine who has something special about her. Not just her smell. (I’m talking to you Vamp Di, Twilight and True…nope Sookie’s a special one too)

This magical book is about Alchemy and history. I might be feeling a wee bit smart by reading this story. It also makes our heroine skittish, because…

Character: Diana Bishop; witch in denial of being a witch

EC: Yep, Diana has not yet come to terms with her inner bitc…just kidding, witch. There are great tidbits about being a witch and raised by her aunt. (Aunt Sarah is going to be fun, I picture her looking like Susan Sarandon. Yes, we will be casting this thing!) Also, I did like Diana’s acting past. Making herself and costars almost become the characters. Good thing they didn’t do The Sound of Music. Diana would have become a nun, live in the nunnery and no more story. But maybe some rousing Rogers and Hammerstein sing-a-long.

You know she's reading "Twilight". *wonders* Where's MY Edward? Chapter 2 you say?

About Diana: She’s got her phD studying alchemy and is teaching at Yale. She used to attend Oxford and is researching a manuscript for some reason. She’s speaking at an upcoming conference.

EC: Whoo hoo Yale! Do you think she would have taught James Franco, you know if she was real. Then he would try to seduce her and…oops started to write a new story in my head. Darn you Fanfiction!

SWD: My mind wandered a bit during the begining of this book, I was reading a Black Dagger Brotherhood book at the same time. So I did have to switch gears from vamps turning into beasts and raging battles on slayers… to woman reading an alchemy book in a library. I’m scatterbrained, it was a challenge, but I managed. Once I got into, “Discovery of Witches” I was really sucked in!

EC: That’s the best part of ADoW, you have to use your noggin! Deborah Harkness has history and science as main characters of the story which makes it more enriching. It still has epic romance and some light moments, but has a way of description and explaining what is going on. I love guilty pleasures, but sometimes you just need more.

I'm distracted by shiny objects...and dragon ish dudes

SWD: So Diana calls up this book and it goes all psychedelic when she opens it… like True Blood’s LaFayette and Jesus on a V trip. Oooh, it’s a magic book.

EC: Magic books do fun things! Confusing images, text appearing and shimmering and don’t forget the weird smell. But don’t all old books smell weird? Like dust and old creepy houses.

SWD: C’mon, blond girl in denial of her “powers”, dealing with a magic book? It’s the Fever series. Where’s the dark haired mystery man who also wants the book? Oh, right, that’s chapter 2.

EC: We are going to have a good time with Chapter two, yes indeed. Matthew…

SWD:The manuscript is called Ashmole 782. I don’t like this name, it’s too close to “a$$h0le” and “mole”. I don’t like moles. I immediately flash to the disturbing image of the hairless mole rat. So, I just call the book Sinsar Dubh Dos (II). EC: That picture creeped me out. Ugh, hairless moles!

THIS. Everytime you read, "Ashmole"

Can we talk about Gillian Chamberlain? That bitc…witch is going to be trouble. (Picturing Nikki Reed. Rosalie style)

SWD: Yes!! That is a goood depiction of Gillian…maybe it’s the name… like Geillis, the witch-bitch from Outlander. Anyway, Diana gets freaked by the magic book, and sends it back to the stacks. Geesh, Diana, get some cojones. Whose afraid of a book? Oh, I am. But it’s this one:

EC: Me too! Darn clowns with their creepy balloons!

Pennywise, Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goodness gracious, can Isabella ever clean her room?!?

Well kids, Talk Supe has some important announcements. Okay maybe not IMPORTANT, like saving dolphins or building houses in Africa important. Just some FYI, for ya’ all. Like to keep nice and neat in these parts like Edward Cullen likes his Volvo.

Just look at him eat. Ugh. The mess! I swear if Newton doesn’t close his mouth when he eats…

First things first…Talk Supe Book Club!

Get to your local library, bookstore or however you load up the Kindle and start reading this book!  We will be discussing it and enjoying the Yoga stylings of Matthew. (He is somewhat Edward Cullen like. He like to umm…sniff too. Which is kind of creepy, but it supposed to be scary. Soo…) If you like Twilight, you’ll like this one. (Hopefully) It is also not YA, so it for the big girls and boys.

You might be wondering why we aren’t reading the next Outlander yet. Never fear! One of us (EC), still needs to head to the library to pick it up. But, for our Outlander friends, there are visits to SCOTLAND in DoW! Also, a terrific character called Hamish. (Who I imagine should be played by Alan Cummings, when they make the movie. Which you know they will!)

So let’s start reading!

Do you miss me, ladies?

No Vampire Diaries until April! (Darn you American Idol!)

I blame you for this JLO and Stephen Tyler…not to mention Ryan Seacrest. I REALLY blame Seacrest! Sniff, sniff… But until then we are going to attempt to talk more about this…

The originals are back and better than ever!

Being Human…The British Edition and a little of this…

The Yankee Doodle version

Of course, more adventures (completely made up nonsense) about our imaginary buddy…

My hoodie and I know how to throw a kicking party!

That’s right…

More Celebrity Email/Texting/Twitter/Pictorals Theater!

You know you love them.

So here is your super duper update. Of course, we always have more surprises to come! So pickup Discovery of Witches and get ready to chat!

You're still Team Edward! Admit it! I'm charming, romantic, respectful...maybe a tiny bit intense, but...I will clean your house, just to stay number 1!

We love comments! Follow us on Twitter @talksupe. You know you want to!

I series hopped…

I had the 7 month itch...

Dear Outlander,

I’m cheating on you with the Fever series (Karen Marie Moning) and I’m enjoying it. *Said in best “Ross” voice,*We were on a BREAK!!!!”.  I laughed, I “awe’d”, I said huh?/ What the…., I blushed uncomfortably.  But it was a good quick read.

Having a fling with the Fever series.. before I read Echo in the Bone

My brain did hurt in some places in a “Twin Peaks” sort of way (hey there’s even a white mansion/ black corridor like the white lodge/ black lodge in Twin Peaks., but there weren’t any owls). I half expected the Seelie queen to be Laura Palmer. Speaking of which, I couldn’t get a visual for the Seelie Queen, they just said, “long silver hair and the size of an underdeveloped child.” Like a primordial dwarf with Treacher Collins? (*wonders* how many people did I offend with THAT statement).

There are similarities between the Fever series and the Outlander series: magic stones, fae stuff and some Scots.

I’m about 85 % finished with the last book. Here are my speculations:

SPOILER SPECULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!***************************************

• Mac is… the sinsar dubh.

• The book is…Cruce

•V’lane is… the Unseelie king (He’s such a Northman)

Towards the end, I guess he got lazy about the whole name thing.

• Barrons is… no clue. Doesn’t matter. Barrons is Barrons. (Aidan from Being Human mixed with the dark haired dude on Spartacus… Manu…something or other)

Mac and Barrons? Hey, she has smiley faces on her shirt, she qualifies as a Rainbow Girl

• Christian MacKeltar is …someone who needs his own book series. I’ll write it. I have plans for the Druids.

•Dani is… a future super hero. I want her to team up with Young Ian Murray and fight crime and ensue in general badassery. Like Wonderwoman and…er… Tonto?

• The Unseelie court…:

Death, Pestilence, and Famine... What, no???

I recommend this series if you like the Sookie books and have the ability to just go with it and don’t ask questions. It was a fun little fling, but I’m ready to settle back down with Echo…

uh oh the “Black Dagger Brotherhood” just winked at me. Nooooo!

And if you’re a mom with samll children whose read this:

*sings* "Mack"ie and the Ferocious Beast in Nowhere Land.
