What’s scary swirling over your head? This thing.

Hurricane Irene Obviously Isn’t Team Eric

Hurricane Irene is not a nice storm. A name like Irene is far too ladylike for the pummeling that the homes surrounding me took from punishing winds and heavy down pours of rain. It should have been called “Hurricane Oh My God Don’t Let That Giant Tree Limb Hit My House”.  (Perhaps it actually turned out to be a tropical storm with hurricane like gusts, I’m not sure due to hearing different things, it doesn’t matter it just was scary.) The aftermath was a mess of ancient trees laying across major roads, dormant power and telephones lines hanging askew from their perches and rows of neighbors standing at the local firehouse trying to determine when aid would be reaching their homes.

Not the best way to spend a Sunday.

My family in a way was one of the lucky ones. Sure it took seven days to regain power and running water, but there were families not only in Connecticut, but other states that lost their homes/lives to the brutal storm.  While we lost everything in our refridgerator and freezer, we had a plan in effect (and charcoal grill) to keep us fed and we stocked up on water to keep us hydrated. Plus, most importantly, we have loving family and friends that helped us with their support that kept us strong as our tempers were getting hot and our patience was wearing thin.

This led me to make some hopefully make some observations about life. Nah…T.V.and movies. I am not that deep, when trying to find ways avoid eating the cans of SPAM we bought. Plus, what else are you going to do when wearing a special flashlight hat at 8:00 P.M. and trying to stay awake. Play board games and have an intellectual conversation? Ha! We did that the first three nights!

This was like me...except I wasn't doing cool rock climbing, instead I was pretending that my house WASN'T creepy in the dark. #wimp

TRUE BLOOD: I decided I am Team Alcide/Sam and whoever is not a vampire. (Jessica excluded) Sorry Eric and Bill, I have switched teams.  Even more so after catching up on Sunday. (Yay power!) You’ll see in the recap! (Working on it today. Promise!)

I was excited about this, but...

I love this idea better!

Vampire Diaries: Next week! I will admit that my excitement is running high. While getting energy and water back is far more important than a television program, I am positively giddy! (Also, Glee…Parks & Recreation…Supernatural…oh my goodness…How I Met Your Mother…One Tree Hill…umm…forget I said anything!)

Missed all of you

The Secret Circle: There is always room for something new. Something new that you liked reading when you were a teenager! Plus Kevin Williamson is doing it and Vampire Diaries is fantastic! Plus I like witches!

You just knew I was going to watch this!

Twilight: Breaking Dawn is coming, so I had briefly thought about watching the earlier movies on the portable DVD player. Then the realization that I would have to explain WHY I like them. I chickened out.

Every explanation I try just goes entirely wrong and makes the whole series sound unintentionly creepy in a bad way. Yet it always ends with me saying, "I know it doesn't make sense. Can't I just love it anyway?"

 Instead, we watched these instead…

Giggle, giggle. Ben Stiller. Giggle, giggle.

These are a few of my favorite things...Walberg, Stratham, Green, Mos Def and Minis...oh my!

I also started reading, The Witches of East End: A brilliant book by Melissa de la Cruz! I want it to be the next book club selection after we FINALLY discuss A Discovery of Witches!

Add it to your fall reading list! If you love Twilight, Discovery of Witches or Outlander, you'll love this too! We need to chat about it!

Hopefully, Talk Supe is back on track! (And WC Stacey gets a little let up in all her work!) We want to hear all of your comments (because we love them!) Have something funny about this silly stuff you want to share? Send us a guest post! and follow us on twitter @talksupe!

Remember the Good Old Days?

What Was the Scariest Thing at Comic Con?

This is not the good old days...this is a cry for help

EC: Robert…Robert…Robert…what are we going to with you? Cosmopolis has wrapped,so there should be no need to have that disturbing mess on your head. Supposedly, you want to be taken seriously as an actor. I get that. I really do. BUT, and this is a big BUT (and I cannot lie. *giggle* Sorry I just channeled some old school rap, because that hair style is so ridiculous, I’m regressing into my inner 13 year old.), no one can take anyone seriously wearing an ode to the band Flock of Seagulls on their head. (Flock of Seagulls, you ask? Well Rob, I was young when they were popular too. Just watch VH1’s Remember the 80’s! You can so learn so much that really should be forgotten. Like those hideous 80’s neon sunglasses, that I have been seeing everywhere this summer. Ugh. #thingsthatshouldremainburied

SWD: So much eighties stuff is in style. Since I do “Remember the eighties (or eh-ies as my cronies fondly speak of them) I had neon glasses, and strange haircuts and I wanted to be a Go-Go. I wish I’d held on to my oversized earrings and pegged skinny jeans, I could have made some dough on e-bay, #authenticVintage

EC: Now I am assuming that the unfortunate hairstyle is due to the Cosmopolis film. I haven’t read the book, since I am now reading The Help (ahem fan fiction). Diving into the world of racial inequality of the 1950’s South. (Just admit it…reading fan fiction, where Bella is actually awesome). You know IMPORTANT literature. (Fan fiction.) However, is it possible that Paul Giamatti decided to shave “the pretty boy” (that’d be you) after getting “the pretty boy” drunk on Merlot? Because everybody knows, Paul hates that Merlot! #thingslearnedforwatchingSideways)

You're going down, pretty boy!Get these two to Banana Republic or at least Target. No more Thrift Stores!

SWD: Off topic: Did you see “Bottle Shock?” I liked it better than Sideways (eye candy and the girl has cute 70’s shirts and boots)

EC: Here’s my question…do you think its a good idea to keep one side long, while trying to grow the other side back? Why not just cut the other side to match? (SWD: I vote mohawk, I ALWAYS vote mohawk *winks at young Ian and Rehvenge)EC: Do you want to match Kristen’s questionable black bra/white teeshirt look? That’s just you two taking the white trash look to a whole new level.

SWD: Colored bra+ sheer shirt = 80’s for the 10’s. I grew up in the age of early Madonna and Cyndi Lauper. The sheer was mesh, so I think LeStew is actually, classing the look up. Now if it were the iconic Madonna cone bra… we’d have another story.

Here at Talk Supe,we are here to help! Here is some helpful suggestions!

Water for Elephants:

EC: Just cut it short. You really did look nice in this movie.

Much better. Plus you would stop looking like a patient in the psych ward.

The Vampire Diaries Cast @ Comic Con:

EC: They sometimes have some confusing clothing choices, but more times then not they look good. Most important, their hair looks great!

You can have fun with your style and still look good. Just stay away from tiny hats! Ahem…Somerhalder.

SWD: The entire cast of VampDi has amazing hair. Always.

Wait, did I say that? Did I forget Klaus’ Elizabethan wig or early Elijah’s good boy hair? Well they both look good in the end.

True Blood Cast @ Comic Con:

EC: They are adults. Even if they are the same age as you, they act like adults. You are 25, Robert. Observe how grown ups dress at work. (Okay, slightly more fashionable then in an office, but still professional/attractive.)

SWD: Hold on, this is True Blood were talking about. When do they actually “dress” for work, unless it’s the “sock of destiny” #notComplaining

They clean up nice after all the dirty stuff happening in Bon Temps

SWD: Looking good, Joe’s so lovely I’m not even noticing the “v” is going into Stefan territory

Always a lovely and classy couple.

Robert, meet your style icon.

SWD: I’m sorry EC, did you say something. I got distracted.^

And speaking of socks…

Fun with Socks = Good, Crazy with Hair = Bad

Supernatural @ Comic Con

EC: Sam and Dean not only can bring cool to casual, but they can kick butt. Learn this and you can get great new acting gigs!

These boys can work the hair and the Sam's Shirts!

SWD: That IS a Sam shirt.. Alcide wore it last episode, and Sam wore it last season. Love it!
EC: We have so much hope for you, Rob. This intervention is for your own good. Now we just need to work on your umm…interesting…clothing choices.

Alright, I'll admit it. Just start listening to Taylor.

The Jackets that save the world

WC/SWD: Fletch and I were watching some man channel with burly men doing manly things, like Ted Nugent bow hunting or something. I wasn’t paying attention, I was reading the Anthropologie catalog, when suddenly there were attractive men on the screen. Oh, it’s a commercial for some show.. but what? “Supernatural”, I had never heard of this show but I was intrigued by the pretty idea of another show having to do with supes (*note and holy cow, it’s been on since 2005?! I’m not surprised, I’ve never seen Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, or CSI anything). I asked East Coast Stacey about it.
EC:  I love this show! It has pretty boys, and I know that is a big Stacey plus. More than that it is a different take on the genre.  Not only do you have the vampires, werewolves etc., but also a fight between good vs. evil. God vs. the devil. Angels and demons, but it’s mixed up because who really is the good guy? Also, it’s VERY scary.  Okay, I just love Sam and Dean.

Looks like Stacey isn't the only one who loves them. (click this)

WC:  So, I set it on the DVR list, (*side note- Now our DVR playlist is pretty funny. Me: Vampire Diaries, True Blood reruns, Supernatural, Being Human, Mad Men, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Dora the Explorer (for the kiddo, ya’ll). My husbands’s DVR ‘d shows: Whale Wars, Deadliest Catch, Holmes on Homes, Elk Fever, Hunt for Big Fish, Seasons on the Fly, World of Beretta, Skins (I am hoping this is a hunting show, but I don’t think soo…..)).  thinking, one day I’ll be able to get sucked into yet another cult series.

EC: Our DVR’s are very similar, my friend! But throw in some Dr. Who and Dexter for me.  Oh and some Top Gear, Yankees games and F1 Racing.  Wait a sec…isn’t Skins a ‘dirty’ teen show on BBC America? Is Fletch trying to hide it from you? Hmm… at my house we like the teen show Inbetweeners on BBC America, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

We're looking for some Angels... Like Stacey and Stacey

WC: Flash forward to the next Friday. I’m at the gym, on the treadmill, when I casually look up to see what is on the closest TV. It’s an attractive dude in a business suit in an elevator, talking/ yelling/ arguing with another attractive young dude in a cadet jacket. Looks promising. Ohhh, suit dude attacked jacket! They roll out of the elevator fighting (mind you, there is no sound, just the closed captioned type)! Someone throws a burlap hood over Suit’s head and bludgeons him repeatedly as blood soaks through the fabric. Whoa, this just got a hell of a lot more interesting. Oh look, and I’m already at a running pace without realizing it. Yada yada yada, some more stuff happens, I think Suit is dead, but no. He is brought to some ramshackled  house and the hood is removed, he is perfectly fine, tied up, restrained, and covered in blood (ahhh, dreamy) but fine. OK, covered in blood and smirking, Suit looks kind of Eric Northman-esque. Needless to say I am sucked in.

Here we are, gentlemen!

EC:  Supernatural is full of the carnage, even more than Vampire Diaries.  Which is quite bold of the WB, home to Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. Last season’s Devil and Angel saga was full blood and scary stuff. This show is perfect for a Halloween marathon.  I also like how the funny is mixed in to the perfect degree. Don’t forget, when they play the song Don’t Fear The Reaper, during the recap of the previous episodes, it just sums the whole show up.
WC: Oh I love that song.. the version they play in “Scream.”Creeptastic!
Awe… Get Some
WC:  Then Cadet Jacket is joined by cute Fatigue Jacket and they are confronting Suit about something. Stuff happens and I realize Suit is a bad guy and the Army Jackets are the good guys. Of course they are, they’re hot, yet wholesome looking. Hey wait, is that…is Fatigue Jacket “Dean” from “Gillmore Girls?” When did he become a man? Because he was a scrawny kid when I watched that show, when I was in my mid twenties. Alexis Bledell or Lauren Graham (or me) didn’t age, did we? Dammit delusional chick time machine mind.
EC: First, I miss Gilmore Girls.  I love it so much I watch the reruns on the Family Channel.  I also loved Dean, but my sister loved the dude from Heroes, Milo something. Fun note, my college boyfriend looked like Logan and was also evil. (Feat Lil J, you know who…) Oh and Stacey, we didn’t age at all, because we are forever young and cute like Lauren Graham.
WC: Totally feasible thanks to Revitalift.
EC: By the way, the guy who plays Supernatural’s Dean, was Eric Brady on Days of Our Lives.  I might of had a gigantic crush on him in High School and would be “sick”, so I could watch him. Now I watch reruns of Supernatural to get my daily fix. (I have not grown up at all.)

We never outgrow a bromance, but ewwww, they're supposed to be real brothers.

WC:  So, more stuff happens. A creepy guy with yellow eyes (definitely not golden Edward Cullen eyes, more like venomous snake eyes… you know, like LeStew or Lil Kim, but yellow and more demon-y) shows up with some invisible hounds of hell. Then they pour salt everywhere. Mmmm, salt, invisible dogs, JCREW jackets… this is my kind of show!

Creepy eye colage. Pet Semetary eyes added for extra creepiness, and balance.

EC: Scary demon! Yay! This show is so full of win. Oh and I want Uncle Bobby to be my demon fighting uncle. I loved that actor when he was on HBO’s Deadwood, too!
WC: I don’t know who Uncle Bobby is yet (I’m bad with names), but was he the one on Deadwood that would say “c-suckers” a lot? … oh wait, that was the whole cast.
WC:  After watching the new episodes, I am still completely lost, but I am totally on board. Between shape shifting babies, Parker Lewis, Djinn fighting and manly hotness, I’ll be along for the ride, with Sam and Dean, speeding off into the sunset in their shiny, black, manly, muscle cars.
EC:  You have just completely, sumed up why I love this show! Now you need to catch up with the previous seasons! You will not be disappointed
